NetSource One is proud to announce the that the FIRST Robotics Team 703, sponsored by NetSource One, took second place in a field of forty teams at the district competition on March 24th.

March 24, 2012 - NetSource One is proud to announce that FIRST (www.usfirst.com) Robotics Team 703 finished 2nd out of 40 Teams at the Northville, Michigan district competition on March 24, 2012. Team 703, Team Phoenix (http://www.phoenix703.org/) is sponsored by The Saginaw Career Complex, Nexteer and NetSource One.

    Day One

Competition for the Northville districts began on Friday March 23rd. After 7 of 12 elimination rounds team 703 was one of only 2 undefeated teams with a record of 5 wins, 2 ties and 0 losses. At one point Team 703 was first place in the standings. Unfortunately, match number 8 was against the only other undefeated team (The HOT Team 67).  After meeting team 703…Team 67 was still undefeated. Team 703 ended Day 1 of qualifications as the second seed team for the first time in team history.

    Day Two

Day 2 started with 2 matches against Team 2337 (the Enginerds).  Team 703 lost both matches and dropped to 11th in the standings, but did well in their last match and ended qualification matches as the number 8 seed.

During Elimination Alliance selection the number 1 seed (team 67) picked the number 3 seed as a teammate and the number 2 seed (team 2337) picked the number 7 seed. This moved Team 703 up to be the captain of the 6thseed team. As their alliance partners they chose Team 308 (the Monsters) and team 66 (The Flyers). Their Quarter Final matches were against the Number 3 Alliance, whom they defeated in two matches with scores of 34-28 and 45-37. This placed them in the semi-finals against the number 2 Alliance headed by team 2337.  Team 703 had lost twice to team 2337 during qualification matches and had lost against them earlier in March when they met at Kettering University. The team was very worried but did not give up. The Team 703 Alliance won the first semi-final with a score of 40-22. The second match went to the Team 2337 Alliance with a score of 37-83. The third and final semi-final match ended with a score of 40-32 in favor of Team 703. For the first time in the history of the team they went to the finals as a team Captain (They have made it to the finals before as a teammate but never as the Captain).
